On 20 June 2023, the Local Government Resilience Project (LOGOReP) held its closing conference and investment fair in Erbil. The closing conference highlighted the successful collaboration between VNG International, the Danish Refugee Council and the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Over the course of four years, VNG International worked closely with the Ministry's team in five municipalities: Basirma, Qushtapa, Kawargosk, Sebiran, and Kani Qirjala. The main objective of LOGOReP was to improve basic services and to contribute to the creation of extra job opportunities.
Under LOGOReP, VNG International's team of experts together with the Ministry developed five comprehensive development visions, accompanied by investment catalogues tailored to each municipality. These catalogues serve as valuable resources, showcasing the abundant investment opportunities and untapped potential in the region, with the ultimate goal of attracting investments and stimulating economic growth.
During the closing conference, VNG International officially handed over the project to the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism, symbolizing a significant milestone in their collaboration. This formal transfer signifies the Ministry's commitment to the continued development and sustainability of the LOGOReP initiatives, reinforcing the shared vision of creating resilient and thriving municipalities.
