VNG International, in the framework of the Land Reform for Increased Agricultural Productivity project in #Togo (LRAP), organized in March-April a test on optimal approaches to securing rural land.
Together with the local administrative and customary authorities, the landowning communities were accompanied in an exercise to recognize the boundaries of their properties. This operation at the level of landowners will help farmers to formalize their land use rights.
The next step is to generalize the approach to all the properties in the targeted communities, to certify the results in court and to deploy the tools for formalizing land use contracts between owners and farmers. The same exercises will be carried out in the other regions of the country for a better capitalization of good practices and their regulation at national level. Land tenure security through law and technology is an important lever for the cohabitation of land interests, communities, the defense of the rights of minorities to land, disadvantaged groups, social cohesion, peace and the improvement of agricultural production.

Introduction à des expérimentations de sécurisation foncière en milieu rural au Togo
VNG International, dans le cadre du projet de réforme foncière pour l’accroissement de la productivité agricole au Togo (LRAP), a organisé en mars-avril un test d’optimisation des procédures pour la sécurisation des terres rurales.
En collaboration avec les autorités administratives et coutumières locales, les communautés propriétaires ont été accompagnées dans un exercice de reconnaissance des limites de leurs propriétés. Cette opération au niveau des propriétaires fonciers aidera les agriculteurs à formaliser leurs droits d'usage des terres.
La prochaine étape sera de généraliser l'approche à l'ensemble des propriétés des communautés ciblées, à certifier les résultats devant les tribunaux et à déployer les outils de formalisation des contrats d'usage des terres entre propriétaires et fermiers. Les mêmes exercices seront réalisés dans les autres régions du pays pour une meilleure capitalisation des bonnes pratiques et leur réglementation au niveau national. La sécurisation foncière par le droit et la technologie est un levier important pour la cohabitation des intérêts fonciers, des communautés, la défense des droits des minorités à la terre, la cohésion sociale, la paix et l'amélioration de la production agricole.
