  • Governors Programme on Local Governance & Development

    Country: Oman
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start March 31, 2023 till December 31, 2023
    This project built the skills of Omani governors and municipal leaders through exchanges in Oman and the Netherlands on decentralisation, participation and local development.

  • Horizontal Monitoring Model piloting

    Country: Bulgaria
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start July 1, 2021 till November 1, 2023
    This project supported Bulgaria’s tax administration in shifting towards cooperative compliance, using trust-based monitoring to enhance transparency and taxpayer relations.

  • Implementation of Multipurpose Cadastre

    Country: Colombia
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start May 17, 2022 till November 30, 2023
    Insecure land rights in Colombia increase the risk of conflict and violence, especially for vulnerable groups. This project strengthened a multipurpose cadastre to improve land security, support social cohesion and enable more inclusive local governance.

  • Improving Sustainability of the WASH Sector in Upper Egypt

    Country: Egypt
    Field of expertise: Improving Access to Basic Services
    Duration: Start October 1, 2021 till March 31, 2025
    The project in Upper Egypt has significantly improved water and sanitation services for 2.5 million people by empowering communities, upgrading infrastructure, and streamlining complaint response systems.

  • Inawezekana ‘It is possible’

    Country: Democratic Republic of the Congo
    Field of expertise: Dealing with Conflict, Fragility and Migration
    Duration: Start September 1, 2017 till December 31, 2021
    The programme strengthened local governance and accountability, and helped youth and women access livelihoods, supporting conflict resolution and stability.

  • Inclusive Decisions At Local Level (IDEAL)

    Country: World
    Field of expertise: Involving Citizens in Decision Making
    Duration: Start January 1, 2017 till December 31, 2021
    The IDEAL programme supports local governments in fragile contexts to involve citizens in decision making. Through training, policy advice and peer learning, the programme improves services, strengthens local cooperation and builds trust between citizens and authorities.

  • Initiative for an effective decentralisation and attractive municipalities (IDEMA)

    Country: Tunisia

    Duration: Start November 7, 2018 till October 31, 2022
    This project supports decentralisation in Tunisia by improving local services, strengthening local economies and promoting citizen participation, accountability and social cohesion.

  • Institutional capacity building with SASB and the development of tertiary drainage in the city of Beira

    Country: Mozambique
    Field of expertise: Improving Access to Basic Services
    Duration: Start April 1, 2023 till June 30, 2027
    Beira in Mozambique faces frequent flooding. This project builds drainage systems and local capacity for a more resilient city.

  • International Urban and Regional Cooperation in Asia and the Pacific – Bilateral Action China

    Country: China
    Field of expertise: Developing Sustainable and Resilient Cities and Communities
    Duration: Start January 1, 2021 till December 31, 2023
    IURC China fostered cooperation between the EU and China by linking cities and regions. It supported sustainable urban development and innovation through international exchange and collaboration.

  • Introducing a Systematic Approach to Financing Smart Solutions

    Country: Czech Republic
    Field of expertise: Developing Sustainable and Resilient Cities and Communities
    Duration: Start July 13, 2020 till July 12, 2022
    The action institutionalised a multi‑stakeholder Smart City governance framework to enable sustainable, data‑driven public service delivery and unlock investable smart solutions.

  • Iraq, Sustainable Development through improved Local Governance

    Country: Iraq
    Field of expertise: Developing Sustainable and Resilient Cities and Communities
    Duration: Start January 1, 2022 till December 31, 2026
    In Kurdistan and Nineveh, the focus is on improving services for host communities and displaced people. This includes waste management, drinking water, local economic development, local administration and citizen engagement.

  • Kenya Devolution Programme

    Country: Kenya

    Duration: Start January 5, 2022 till September 30, 2022
    This project supported Kenyan county governments to improve spatial planning and own source revenue collection, helping them deliver better services under devolution.

  • Kenya, Sustainable Development through improved Local Governance

    Country: Kenya
    Field of expertise: Dealing with Conflict, Fragility and Migration
    Duration: Start April 1, 2024 till December 31, 2026
    Kenya shifts to integrated settlements for refugees and host communities. SDLG supports local governments to improve services, governance and resilience.

  • Kumasi Citãs-Unies France COVID-19 Recovery Programme

    Country: Ghana
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start December 7, 2020 till August 31, 2022
    This project supported Kumasi’s response to the COVID‑19 pandemic by helping small businesses recover and providing practical support to vulnerable communities. It combined economic recovery, capacity building and targeted social support to improve resilience during the crisis.

  • Land Reform to accelerate Agricultural Productivity (I), Togo

    Country: Togo

    Duration: Start August 1, 2022 till July 31, 2023
    Secure land rights drive investment and growth. In Togo, this project helps the government put land reform into practice and improve clear and accessible land administration for citizens.

  • Land Reform to accelerate Agricultural Productivity (II), Togo

    Country: Togo
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start October 1, 2023 till February 28, 2026
    This second phase of the LRAP project supports land reform in Togo by testing practical and affordable ways to secure land rights. It helps improve land governance, strengthen regulations and support investment in agriculture.

  • Lebanon, Sustainable Development through Improved Local Governance

    Country: Lebanon

    Duration: Start January 1, 2022 till December 31, 2026
    SDLG Lebanon empowers local authorities to address conflict drivers, manage diverse populations, strengthen local economies and improve service delivery, contributing to more stable and inclusive communities in a challenging national context.

  • lmproved Service delivery and Accountability at Local Level – Component of Public Administration Facility Phase lll

    Country: Libyan Arab Jamahiriya
    Field of expertise: Dealing with Conflict, Fragility and Migration
    Duration: Start May 1, 2019 till July 31, 2022
    The overall objective of the project was to contribute to the democratic transition process and the stabilisation of Libya.

  • Local Authority Capacity Enhancement Project 2, Zimbabwe

    Country: Zimbabwe
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start March 1, 2018 till August 31, 2021
    This programme aimed to ensure effective, efficient and participatory development at the local level in Zimbabwe by making local service delivery more inclusive, gender-responsive and pro-poor.

    This project supported municipal learning and strengthened the national association of local governments in Georgia.
