  • South Sudan, Inclusive Decisions At Local Level (IDEAL)

    The IDEAL programme in South Sudan supports local governments in improving the delivery and accessibility of WASH services, systems that provide safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene promotion.

    The SDLG South Sudan Water programme seeks to build flood and climate disaster resilience for Bor County and Municipality, promoting sustainability in local communities.
  • Support Facility Inclusive Green Growth (IGG)

    Field of expertise: Developing Sustainable and Resilient Cities and Communities
    Duration: Start June 1, 2021 till June 1, 2023
    The wider objective of the project is to provide advisory service to the Policy Direction Inclusive Green Growth of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Support to Public Administration Reform Visibility and Communication in Serbia

    Field of expertise: Involving Citizens in Decision Making
    Duration: Start August 1, 2018 till January 31, 2024
    The Serbian Government received assistance through this project in enhancing visibility and communication for reforms in Public Administration, Public Financial Management and the Sector Reform Contract.
  • Supporting Refugees and Host Communities

    Country: Uganda
    Field of expertise: Dealing with Conflict, Fragility and Migration
    Duration: Start July 1, 2019 till August 31, 2022
    Supports refugees and host communities in Northern Uganda to build livelihoods. Through labour market analysis, public private dialogue and targeted expertise, the project strengthens local capacity and creates better jobs and income opportunities.
  • Sustainable Development through improved Local Governance (SRoL)

    Country: Palestinian Territory, Occupied
    Field of expertise: Involving Citizens in Decision Making
    Duration: Start January 1, 2022 till December 31, 2026
    This project improves local services and decision-making by involving communities, supporting institutions and focusing on people who are often left out, to build lasting and inclusive development.
  • Tax for Development

    Country: Ghana
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start November 1, 2017 till December 31, 2022
    This project helped local governments in Ghana increase local tax revenues by improving tax administration, introducing IT systems and strengthening communication with citizens.
  • Technical Expertise and Implementation Support Services for the National School of Government, South Africa

    Country: South Africa
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start June 6, 2019 till June 5, 2021
    This project supported South Africa’s National School of Government through training, capacity building and support for public sector professionalisation.
  • Think & Do Tank

    Country: Kenya
    Duration: Start January 1, 2024 till December 31, 2027
    This project supports Kenya’s first climate think-and-do tank to link data, dialogue and coordinated action across water, agrifood and energy sectors. It brings public and private actors together to catalyse sustainable investment and climate resilience.
  • Transition for Inclusive Development in Eastern DRC (TRIDE)

    Country: Democratic Republic of the Congo
    Field of expertise: Dealing with Conflict, Fragility and Migration
    Duration: Start July 1, 2021 till December 31, 2026
    The TRIDE project aims to improve food security and integrated water resource management in 59 villages of 5 chefferies (municipalities) in South Kivu. In addition to promoting good governance at the community level, it addresses the root causes of insecurity and instability by sustainable development of the local economy.
  • UCLG Peace Prize 2021-2023

    The UCLG Peace Prize rewards innovative activities and initiatives that support conflict prevention, peace-building, post-conflict reconstruction and reconciliation.

    In dynamic and volatile Uganda, the voice of citizens becomes increasingly relevant to ensure locally driven development, which is why the IDEAL programme supports six Ugandan local governments and two local government associations in aligning their actions and services to the needs of citizens.

    The goal of SDLG Ukraine is to improve sustainability and resilience of local governments by using participatory methods, risk mitigation and economic development.

    Connects local and regional governments worldwide. Through knowledge exchange, joint learning and advocacy, the programme improves international programmes, builds a shared narrative and reinforces the role of local government in development.
  • United Cities and Local Governments, Capacity and Institution Building Working Group 2022

    Connects local and regional governments worldwide. Through policy papers, SDG reporting support and joint learning, the group strengthens coordination, builds evidence and promotes the role of local governments in development.
  • Uniting Local Governments in Ethiopia

    Duration: Start December 10, 2020 till December 9, 2024
    By enhancing local government associations and public finance management capacities, decentralisation was advanced and service delivery improved.
  • Upper Egypt Local Development Program

    Country: Egypt
    Field of expertise: Improving Access to Basic Services
    Duration: Start February 1, 2019 till December 31, 2021
    Supports local governments in Upper Egypt to improve services and the business environment. Through technical support and training, the programme strengthens local capacity, streamlines public services and helps authorities respond better to citizens’ needs.
  • Urban Development Technical Facility

    Country: World
    Field of expertise: Developing Sustainable and Resilient Cities and Communities
    Duration: Start October 1, 2022 till September 30, 2026
    Supports the EU to improve urban development worldwide. Through expert advice and coordinated action, the programme strengthens cities’ capacity to address climate change, inequality and sustainable growth, while improving the quality and impact of EU investments.

    Country: Netherlands
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start July 1, 2024 till December 31, 2025
    Supports Caribbean public entities to improve policy and service delivery. By sharing VNG tools, conducting policy reviews and strengthening exchange with Dutch municipalities, the project builds local capacity and improves implementation.
