  • Burundi, Inclusive Decisions At Local Level (IDEAL)

    By enhancing citizens’ voices in local governance, IDEAL Burundi aspires to improve human security in 8 local governments, in particular for vulnerable groups such as women and youth.

    The IDEAL programme supports local governments in fragile contexts to involve citizens in decision making. Through training, policy advice and peer learning, the programme improves services, strengthens local cooperation and builds trust between citizens and authorities.

  • Mali, Inclusive Decisions At Local Level (IDEAL)

    The IDEAL programme in Mali supported five pilot communes in their integrated water resources management. It also supports the national association of municipalities in their lobby efforts to improve the institutional environment.

    The IDEAL programme supported Palestinian municipalities in developing a joint approach with their communities to create job opportunities and to promote prosperity.

    The IDEAL programme supported six growing Rwandan cities in dealing with the challenges brought by rapid urbanisation. By closely involving local citizens in this process, we ensure that their needs are reflected in policies and services developed to address these challenges.

    The IDEAL programme supports Somaliland’s local governments and the Association of Local Government Authorities of Somaliland (ALGASL) to strengthen local governance and resilience to climate and development challenges.

    The IDEAL programme in South Sudan supports local governments in improving the delivery and accessibility of WASH services, systems that provide safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene promotion.

    In dynamic and volatile Uganda, the voice of citizens becomes increasingly relevant to ensure locally driven development, which is why the IDEAL programme supports six Ugandan local governments and two local government associations in aligning their actions and services to the needs of citizens.
