In collaboration with local governments, communities, civil society, the private sector, national governments, and other stakeholders, we strive to share expertise and implement initiatives that foster better futures for all.   • Land Reform to accelerate Agricultural Productivity (II), Togo

    Country: Togo
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start October 1, 2023 till February 28, 2026
    This second phase of the LRAP project supports land reform in Togo by testing practical and affordable ways to secure land rights. It helps improve land governance, strengthen regulations and support investment in agriculture.

  • Local Government Programme

    Country: Georgia

    Duration: Start August 1, 2023 till July 25, 2025
    This project supported municipal learning and strengthened the national association of local governments in Georgia.

  • Municipal Accountability, Governance and Inclusive Communities in Chin State and Tanintharyi Region (MAGIC)

    Country: Myanmar

    Duration: Start March 1, 2018 till February 28, 2022
    This project improved municipal governance in Myanmar by helping local authorities plan better, deliver services, increase transparency, and strengthen accountability for citizens.

  • Policy Advice to Dutch Municipalities and the VNG on International Cooperation 2022

    This project helped Dutch municipalities engage with international cooperation and global agendas. It provided access to knowledge, networks and good practices and supported municipalities in applying global goals locally.

  • Projet de Modernisation de l’Administration Foncière au Bénin (PMAF)

    Duration: Start December 1, 2018 till June 30, 2023
    The PMAF project contributed to land security in Benin through a modern national cadastre and sustainable land administration systems. By making land ownership more transparent and reliable, it helps reduce conflict and supports sustainable development.

  • Projet de Préparation de la Mise à l’Échelle du Cadastre national (PPMEC) au Bénin

    Benin’s PPMEC project scales up a national digital cadastre, strengthening land tenure security, supporting investment and building capacity for effective, inclusive land management.

  • Public Finance Reform for SDGs and Domestic Revenue Mobilisation (Reforme)

    The Reforme project supports sound financial governance in Benin by aligning national and local budgets with transparent, SDG-based statistical reporting.

  • Shiraka-Initiative pour des municipalités efficaces, inclusives et prospères

    Duration: Start October 1, 2019 till December 31, 2021
    Strengthens municipalities within Algeria’s decentralisation process. By supporting local governance and integrated territorial development, the project helps local governments respond to challenges and unlock sustainable, balanced development.

  • Tax for Development

    Country: Ghana

    Duration: Start November 1, 2017 till December 31, 2022
    This project helped local governments in Ghana increase local tax revenues by improving tax administration, introducing IT systems and strengthening communication with citizens.

  • Technical Expertise and Implementation Support Services for the National School of Government, South Africa

    Duration: Start June 6, 2019 till June 5, 2021
    This project supported South Africa’s National School of Government through training, capacity building and support for public sector professionalisation.

  • United Cities and Local Governments, Capacity and Institution Building Working Group 2021

    Duration: Start January 1, 2021 till December 31, 2021
    Connects local and regional governments worldwide. Through knowledge exchange, joint learning and advocacy, the programme improves international programmes, builds a shared narrative and reinforces the role of local government in development.

  • United Cities and Local Governments, Capacity and Institution Building Working Group 2022

    Duration: Start January 1, 2022 till December 31, 2022
    Connects local and regional governments worldwide. Through policy papers, SDG reporting support and joint learning, the group strengthens coordination, builds evidence and promotes the role of local governments in development.

  • Uniting Local Governments in Ethiopia

    Duration: Start December 10, 2020 till December 9, 2024
    By enhancing local government associations and public finance management capacities, decentralisation was advanced and service delivery improved.

  • VNG Caribendesk

    Country: Netherlands
    Field of expertise: Building More Effective Public Administration
    Duration: Start July 1, 2024 till December 31, 2025
    Supports Caribbean public entities to improve policy and service delivery. By sharing VNG tools, conducting policy reviews and strengthening exchange with Dutch municipalities, the project builds local capacity and improves implementation.
