SDLG Uganda supports local governments in building inclusive and accountable governance, with a focus on communities affected by conflict, displacement and economic vulnerability.

Objective

The programme aims to contribute to more sustainable development for people who are affected by conflict, at risk of being left behind, or part of host and displaced communities. Its overall objective is to support locally driven, inclusive and accountable governance in eight local governments across Uganda.

To achieve this, the programme focuses on three key thematic areas:

Security and Rule of Law
Improving collaboration between local leaders and stakeholders, so that different perspectives can be brought together in practical solutions for local services.

Migration
Strengthening the ability of local governments and partners to respond to the needs of refugees and host communities with flexible and context-specific solutions.

Economic Development and Taxation
Increasing own-source revenue to support local economic development, including youth employment and social protection.
