Sanne van Amerongen

Project Manager

Holds a BSc in International Relations and Organization, as well as Middle Eastern Studies, and a MSc in Human Security. She has a successful record of managing international donor-funded programmes, incl. European Union, World Bank, Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, GIZ and USAID, in the field of sustainable development in fragile conflict societies. She has been involved in VNG International programmes in Egypt, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, Sint Maarten, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe since 2019. She is also the international coordinator for the United Cities and Local Governance (UCLG) Peace Prize.

Sanne her thematic focus is on security and rule of law, democratic governance, peacebuilding, transitional justice and sustainable development in post-conflict and fragile societies. She is currently account manager for South Sudan and Kenya where she manages projects on migration and forced displacement, and security and rule of law.

What I like about VNG International's projects is their local and context-specific approach. Local inclusive governance processes can promote peaceful societies and can help achieve stability and human security, which only comes with human rights and the rule of law.
