With dual Master’s degrees in International Relations and Middle East Studies from the University of Groningen, Karim brings a wealth of expertise in strengthening local governance and civil society as Regional Manager for East and Southern Africa (ESA). Since joining in 2018 as Project Manager for programmes in Libya and Iraq (MASAR), he quickly advanced to lead the MASAR programme as Project Director. He also directed the SDLG programme, our Strategic Partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Currently, Karim plays a key role in shaping and overseeing initiatives across the ESA region—from broad-based governance projects to highly technical flood resilience efforts and beyond.
