Today we share an important step for both VNG International and our wider VNG family. Our Director, Pieter Jeroense, will step down from his role at VNG International as he takes up the position of General Director of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) as of 15 June 2026.
We warmly congratulate Pieter on this appointment. During his time as Director of VNG International, he has played a key role in advancing our mission to strengthen municipalities worldwide. Under his leadership, VNG International further deepened its partnerships with local governments and contributed to building stable, resilient municipalities as the foundation of strong communities.
As we move into this next phase, Renske Steenbergen, Deputy Director of VNG International, will assume his responsibilities on an acting basis pending the formal appointment of a new Director.
We thank Pieter for his leadership and dedication to VNG International and wish him every success in his new role at VNG.
