On the occasion of World Water Day, VNG International Benin mobilized to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving water resources.

On March 22, 2024, at the Congress Palace in Cotonou, our team hosted a stand at the event, to present its actions in the water sector and inform visitors about water-related issues around the world and in Benin in particular. A wide range of topics were covered to encourage everyone to take responsible action on a daily basis, ranging from sustainable water management to the Community Early Warning System to floods.

We would like to thank all the visitors who took the time to learn more about these crucial issues for the future of our planet. Together, we can work to preserve water, a resource essential to life.

VNG International is currently implementing 2 IWRM projects in Benin, for a 3 years period (2024-2026), which are financed by the Kingdom of the Netherlands: SDLG Water Benin, on the 5 communes around Lake Nokoué (Abomey-Calavi, Zê, So-Ava, Porto-Novo and Sèmè-Podji) and DURAGIRE, on 16 communes in the Lower Ouémé Valley, in consortium with SNV and the Beninese National Association of Communes (ANCB). These 2 projects aim to consolidate the operationalization and sustainability of local IWRM in Benin, by strengthening the institutional fabric of IWRM, the economic valuation of water resources, the Flood Early Warning System and the prefiguration structures for Local Water Committees.
