Mariam Diakité

Senior Project Manager - Business Unit West & Central Africa

Mariam leads the Sustainable Development through Improved Local Governance (SDLG) programme in Mali and Somalia at VNG International.  
Previously, she worked as a Project Manager for the British Embassy of Khartoum, Programme Manager for Plan International UK, and Consortium Manager for Article 19 on projects that were implemented in West and East Africa and dealt with strengthening local governance, education, WASH, Conflict, Security and Stability. 

Mariam holds a Master of International Relations and Intercultural Negotiations from the University of Paris 10 in France.


In the wake of climate change, the increase of natural disasters, wars and conflicts over access to natural resources, strengthening local governance is not an option, it is a must.
