Best Practices in water supply in Indonesia from the LOGO South programme 2005-2008

In Indonesia, Dutch and Indonesian Water Companies work together to improve water supply service delivery to the Indonesian people. This is a big challenge- many people in Indonesia have no access to water, the maintenance of the distribution system is poor, and tariffs are often below cost price. Within the three twinning projects that LOGO South is supporting, the Indonesian and Dutch partners have worked hard on improving the water supply. over time they have developed several good practices. This publication describes a selection of these practices and describes the process that was followed, the obstacles encountered and the results achieved. Integrated Solid Waste Management in LOGO South projects

From the 7th  until the 9th of July 2008 an Exchange Activity was organized in Stellenbosch, South Africa in the framework of the LOGO South Thematic Programme Solid Waste Management. During this Exchange Activity a new publication of VNG International was presented called: “Closing the circle; bringing integrated sustainable waste management home”. The publication has been written in co-operation with the Dutch organization WASTE who is the main partner of VNG International in the Thematic Programme Solid Waste Management. The publication is primarily intended for practitioners in the field of waste management in developing countries. It is a reference that combines theory and practice. Download here the publication.

Municipal international cooperaton in the field of HIV and AIDS

Several local governments in the Netherlands are offering assistance to municipalities in Namibia and South Africa in strengthening their capacities to respond to HIV and AIDS. VNG International produced a brochure which shows how this is being done, with eight examples of twinning projects between Namibian, South African and Dutch municipalities.
