On September 3-4 the LGCP’s Learning Benchmark on sanitation in Ghana kicked-off with a meeting in Accra. The Benchmark is designed to help local governments to learn from each other by comparing their performance in a certain area. The LGCP Programme in Benin has integrated the benchmarking tool into its activities. It is a learning tool allowing 21 municipalities in 3 departments (Alibori, Atacora and Couffo) to compare their performance and to learn from their neighbouring municipalities. In March and April 2013, the municipalities met to compare and exchange results from the questionnaire and to identify the best practices in neighbouring municipalities with which they wish to work.
