VNG International awarded Arial project - 25-08-10

VNG International is proud to announce that it has been awarded the project Strengthening Local Authority Associations at ACP national and regional levels (ARIAL). The specific objective of the project is to promote and strengthen the capacity of local authorities in ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States) countries; in particular it seeks to strengthen local authorities’ representative institutions from the national level up to the international level so that they will be able to take part in the implementation of development policies, in particular with the EU, and play a political role as provided for by the Cotonou Agreement.

The project has a duration of three years and will be completed in 2013. Partners within the project are the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF), the Municipal Development Partnership for Eastern and Southern Africa (MDP-ESA), the Foundation of the Peoples of the South Pacific International (FSPI), le Partnerariat pour le Développement Municipal (PDM) and the University of the West Indies.
