VNG International acquires two new projects - 01-03-11

VNG International obtained two important projects in Southern Sudan and Ethiopia. The budget for the project in Ethiopia is $ 18 million. In Southern Sudan  a $ 1 million contract has been signed for the project.

Ethiopia
The project in Ethiopia is part of a larger programme of the World Bank and other donors including the Dutch government. The overall objective is to improve basic public service delivery by local governments in the areas of water, education, agriculture and health care. Within this project, VNG International focuses on social accountability and organises activities and trainings regarding local service delivery.

Southern Sudan
Even though Southern Sudan is not yet an independent state, the government is already working on  public administration formation. VNG International will train civil servants with regard to the main tasks of local governance. Additional objectives of the project are to strengthen cooperation between local governments and to foster the relationship with the Local Government Board and its various departments.
