Strengthening Local Governance and Decentralization: Lessons and Experiences from LGAs in Asia - 08-03-10
VNG International is proud to announce that its latest knowledge product, "Strengthening Local Governance and Decentralization: Lessons and Experiences from LGAs in Asia", is ready.
Associations of Municipalities play an important role in building local governance in development countries. VNG International has helped associations in dozens of countries to improve their service delivery to their members, to strenghten their lobbying capacity, and to become financially and organisationally stronger. VNG International and the Canadian association of municipalities describe their experiences with supporting nine associations in Asia.
"Strengthening Local Governance and Decentralization: Lessons and Experiences from LGAs in Asia" presents a series of initiatives that LGAs in Asia have undertaken to enhance their own viability and financial sustainability while improving the services they provide to their member local governments. These services range from policy, advocacy and intergovernmental relations on issues affecting local governments, to training and knowledge dissemination.
The publication will be shared at an upcoming regional workshop in Jakarta from 9-11 March 2010, where LGAs will also have an opportunity to present their case study.
The publication is being translated into 6 Asian languages as well as in French. For the English version, please click here.
